A day in my life...

I know ALL moms are busy and my day is not much different than anyone else who stays at home with kids, but I thought I would document a day in my life, just because...

5:00 am: Coen is screaming, get up and give him milk and go back to bed!

8:00 am: I hear Coen and Ciena laughing and playing in their rooms, time to be up!

8:15 am: Enter the babies room and greet my darlings, they are always so happy in the mornings! Change diapers (Coen always poops in the morning) and send them on their way.

8:30 am: Dresden runs out of his room with his favorite Freddy dog and blanket and runs in to see what the babies are doing. Realizing Dad is still home (which is rare) and in the shower, he plays his favorite prank and flushes the toilet to make Dad scream out!

8:45 am: Make french toast for breakfast and the kids get to eat with Daddy (again, very rare). Chad has three little ones (and me too) all trying to get the last kiss in before he heads off for the day.

9:00 am: Clean up breakfast, put the first load of laundry in, make beds, etc.

10:00 am: The kids all want to play outside. I look out and it's muddy so I know it will be a mess, but I give in and let them out anyway.

11:00 am: Yep, they're a mess! I strip them all down outside and leave their muddy clothes and shoes while putting them in the bath. Coen and Dresden are playing in the tub, but Ciena decides she wants no bath today. I wrestle to keep her in the tub and scrub her down as fast as I can. Get them out of the tub, dress them, and put them in front of the TV to watch a show with a snack while I hurry to get a shower in myself.

12:15 pm: Get in the kids in the car and head off to take Dresden to his pre-school. Pick up Mazie on the way (his friend in the class).

12:30 pm: Drop off Dresden's reginstration papers to his new pre-school he will be attending next year. Join my friends at the park and let the twins play for a while.

1:30 pm: Get home, get the twins out of the car and into bed. I hear them playing for while and then it's silent! Yes, it's break time for me!

2:00 pm: Put my music on, make a nice little BLT sandwich and a Diet Coke. Read some literature Dre's teacher gave me and enjoy my little break.

2:15 pm: Talk to my mom and sister on the phone

2:30 pm: Time to get to work! Pick up, clean the bathrooms, put more laundry in, sweep the floors, vacuum, empty dishwasher, etc. The inside in almost done and I hear Coen cry out -- look at the clock and he's definitely not ready to be up! Pray he goes back to sleep and he does.

4:00 pm: Take the garbage out and hose down the outside of the house and garage that the kids spread mud all over earlier today.

4:30 pm: Check email, pay bills, put in a few Modbe orders.

5:00 pm: I hear the twins laughing and playing. Go in and get them and change their diapers, this time Ciena has the poopy.

5:30 pm: Feed the twins, and get them in the car and realize Ciena has pooped again! Pull her out and change her.

6:00 pm: Pick up Dresden from his friends house where he stayed to play after school. Head to the gym and drop the kids off at the kids club while I go to Body Combat.

7:30 pm: Go to the dry cleaners to drop off Chad's shirts -- shoot, they are closed already!!

8:00 pm: It's a late dinner and the kids are starving! Give them some chips to snack on as I throw together some sloppy joe's. Teach Dresden the Adam Sandler version of the "sloppy joe song" as I'm making them.

8:30 pm: Try to get the twins Pj's on, but they are having fun running around with Dresden so I just let them.

9:00 pm: Think to myself, "this is ridiculous, why aren't my kids in bed!" Get the twins in bed, and Dresden insists on having a dessert.

9:30 pm: Dre and I eat popcicles and watch some animal rescue show on TV, ok for reals, time for bed kid! Get Pj's on, potty, brush teeth, floss, read books, say prayers, and tuck him in.

10:00 pm: Fold laundry, get out iron, start my nightly clean-up routine...

10:30 pm: Chad get's home (earlier than expected) and Dresden runs out of his bedroom excited to see Daddy! Seriously??

11:00 pm: Put Dresden to bed, again.

11:30 pm: Talk to my hubby and fill him in on the events of the day.

12:00 pm: Wonder to myself why I can never get to bed before midnight!

Somewhere beyond midnight -- give my hubby a kiss goodnight and wish him luck on his final that he will be up all night working on. Tomorrow will be a lot of the same, yet a totally different adventure.

Double Trouble!!

The looks on their faces is so sweet and innocent -- but together they are definitely double trouble! On this occasion they each grabbed a full bag of chips, took them out in the back yard, dumped the entire bags out, and then proceeded to sit in them and eat. This afternoon I came out of my bedroom to find Ciena had dumped a bottle of shampoo on the hard wood floors and both of them were laughing, sliding, and rolling all over in the shampoo mess!

We love Grandma!

My mom just left from a two week visit. I had lots planned and wanted to make sure this was a relaxing trip, so I set some rules for her: No cooking, No cleaning, and No carrying kids around. Yeah right, that didn't last!! When Grandma is here it turns into a huge vacation for me -she's up early with the kids, is constantly cleaning or doing laundry, draws with Dresden, dances with the babies, and tells her famous "Rastis & Jastis" stories at bedtime. I was especially lucky to have her here during Dresden's surgery and recovery, I really don't know what I would have done without her! Thanks for everything Mom, we LOVE you!!

Fossil Rim

It's been two days since the surgery and my mom and I thought Fossil Rim, a drive thru Zoo, would be the perfect place to get out without really having to leave the car. The kids all loved it, although my mom did scare the babies when she started screaming the first time an animal stuck it's head in the car. Midway through we got used to all the animals coming over and loved feeding them and seeing them up close. The kids got to get out when we stopped for lunch and pet some of the animals in the Children's Zoo.

Up Close and Personal!

Oh yes, that is a REAL giraffe eating from my hand and sticking his head in my car! The animals definitely were not shy and came right up and I'm sure if we let them would have jumped right into the car! Never experienced anything like this before and it was awesome!

Double Surgery

Dresden had a double surgery on Monday -- originally to remove a growth underneath his eye and at the last minute we decided to also go ahead with a tonsilectomy. These are the before pictures when he was just a happy little boy! On the way to the hospital at 5 am he said, "Mom, I'm SO excited". Yeah, pretty sure that enthusiasm is gone now! The surgery went well, but recovery has been rough, mainly due to the tonsils. He has been so brave and good through it all, such a little trooper!

Goar Park Easter Festivities!

If Coen's face looks perplexed in this last photo it's because he's just realizing he's sitting in water and is now all wet!

Meet you in New York!

I met my Honey in New York over the weekend for a fun little getaway! I flew out early to stay with Kamilah and moved over with Chad the last two nights. Chad was there for work so he was tied up during the day, but we had some fun date nights and it was the best being there together! Thanks Jill and Grandma Whitney for helping with the kids!!

NYC Trip!

I was SO Happy to see my family in NYC! My parents and Julie and her family had a long layover in NY on their way to their Carribean cruise, so it worked out great for everyone!

Kamilah and I before our night out!

My dinner at 1 AM at Max Brenner, The YUMMIEST place ever!!

I had a great time on my trip to NYC, although it started out a little rocky! My flight was delayed 6 hours and when I finally got on the plane my luggage did not! My luggage did not arrive until a day later, so Saturday I was left with no option but to shop! I stayed with Kamilah the first two nights and we had a blast! To sum it up, lots of shopping, eating fabulous foods, crazy subway rides, and one funny and very interesting party!
