It's a ...

Can you tell from the pictures? Well, if not let me walk you through it! Both Babies are facing down so they are "mooning" us with their little tushes on top. The first baby (previously known as "baby A") was an easy one to spot! You can see there is definitely a little something there in between the legs! So right away we knew we had a BOY! I was excited because I REALLY wanted Dre to have a little brother, and I knew Chad was so happy because he was hoping for at least one boy! Next we went to baby "B" and this baby was more difficult to tell. The baby was not in the right position so it took a while, but finally we got a good shot and sure enough there was nothing there but folds (you can see the white line) -- It's a GIRL! YEAH! Boy/Girl was what I had thought the whole time and what we were both hoping for. Knowing the sexes just makes it all that much more real and for the first time I can picture having these two little babies in our family and it's so exciting! I'm so happy that Dresden will be getting both a little brother and a little sister at the same time. It will be fun to see how their personalities develop and to watch them all interact as siblings! Still so crazy that all of the sudden we are a family of 5!!

Walt Disney World!
Wow, what a trip! We had a blast last week in Disney World! Dresden was the cutest and absolutely LOVED everything! We spent time in each of the 4 Kingdoms: Animal, Magic, MGM, and Epcot. It's hard to say which one Dre liked the most because he loved different aspects of ALL of them! We packed a lot in to our 5 day trip, not the most relaxing - but so much fun! Dresden LOVED all the rides and went on everything from Dumbo to the Goofy Roller Coaster (we had to fluff his hair to meet the height requirement) to Pirates of the Carribean. He also loved the Character parades, light parade, and of course the firework shows we went to every night! This will be the last trip for us for a while, so we will cherish the time and memories we had together as our little family of 3!

 

 

 

I can't believe we will be in Disney World in one week! I am so excited for this trip - it will be the first big "family vacation" for us and I'm sure the last one for a while. I will definitley post lots of pics when we get back!

Rainy day & Ice cream

There is nothing better than a taking a trip to McDonald's to play and eat ice cream on a rainy day! Dresden had a blast and as you can see he REALLY enjoyed his ice cream cone. It took him about 15 minutes to finish the whole thing and by the end we were a mess! Oh well, plus I get a huge pregnancy craving for McDonald's cheeseburgers! Yum!

Our Family is growing... REALLY growing!!

Believe me there is a good reason why I have not been posting lately. As my family and most of our friends know we recently found out we are expecting TWINS! It's been a whirlwind ever since we got the news! I first found out I was pregnant when I got back from NYC and THAT in itself was a surprise. Since I was traveling the whole month of

December I did not have a chance to see my OBGYN, and feeling a little anxious to make sure things were okay I scheduled an appointment with my previous OB in Utah who delivered Dresden. Chad came with me for the ultrasound (at that time I was 7 wks) and as we sat down Chad made a comment to the nurse doing the ultrasound that we "just wanted to make sure it wasn't twins". Not long after the comment the nurse starts to laugh and says, "you guys are going to die, but I DO see TWO". That is when the initial disbelief/shock set in - Chad immediately said, "are you serious?" and she confirmed by letting us hear two tiny heartbeats. After that Chad had a "deer in the headlights" look on his face and did not say ANYTHING for about 5 minutes (he could only stare)! I was overcome with every type of emotion and was laughing/crying all at the same time. My first thought as we left the hospital was "there you go mother"! To explain, my grandmother had twins and my mother has always predicted that one of us girls would follow in Nan's footsteps by having twins. Well, as much as I don't want to give her credit (because she likes to gloat) Mom is pretty accurate with her predictions and crazy "dreams".

We got the news right before Christmas and since then we have had lots more time to think about it and panic, I mean, prepare for the babies. The first thing on our list of "to do's" was find a house. We love living in the city and love the area we live in now, but it's just not practical for our growing family. Luckily I was able to find a great little house not far from where we are now that has everything we need - 3 beds, 2 baths, a great little yard, it's perfect! It is REALLY hard to find 3 bedroom homes in our price range in the area, so I feel like we totally lucked out. I am also so happy that we will stay in the same ward. The girls in my ward have become a second family to me and it is nice to know I will have that support.

Okay, back to the babies. After a couple of weeks it was kind of starting to settle in, although I'm not sure it will ever feel real. I have so many thoughts - of course I'm excited, but also scared and overwhelmed with how I am going to raise 3 (under the age of 3 for 4 months). The babies are due the last of July, but I'm told not to expect to make it till then. There are SO many risks and complications with twins and the doctors tell you ALL of them, I guess so you can prepare?? Anyway, right before my second ultrasound at 10 weeks I was told that it is not uncommon for one fetus to stop growing and I should prepared myself if there was only one heart beat. As I sat waiting to go in, I realized for the first time how much I want BOTH these babies. It was not going to be acceptable to hear only one heart beat! I have never been so nervous, we heard one heart beat immediately and then shortly after there was a second! I couldn't hold back the tears, I was so relieved! Since then when I start to feel overwhelmed and think "how in the world am I going to do this" I quickly remind myself of the HUGE blessing it is! My grandma did it and although I can never compare to her because she was amazing, I like to think that I have her strength and she will be there to help me along the way.

Well, the word is out! I look forward to documenting my experience along the way!

The Polar Express

It's pretty sad that it's mid January and I'm still posting pictures of Christmas time, but oh-well! I keep getting requests so I have to post them! Here are a few from our outing on the Polar Express in Heber. This was my family's Christmas activity that we all did together and it was a lot of fun. The kids came dressed in their PJ's and the train took us on a trip to see Santa at the North Pole. While on board we were served Hot Chocolate and cookies (by the elves) and read the book "The Polar Express". It was pretty cute and overall we had a lot of fun. The only downers were first of all it was FREEZING cold and secondly they could of done a better job with the Santa. He was like a 20 year old dressed in a bad Santa suite. He didn't even fool my 5 year old nephew, when I asked if he thought it was the real Santa he said, "no, he's not even old!"

It's hard to tell because you can't see his head, but that's Dre with Daddy on the slopes of Brighton Ski Resort. The reason you can't see his head is because he threw an absolute FIT when we attached the ski's to his boots. Yeah, lets just say the ski trip didn't last long! Chad just had to try, but for now we'll stick to sleeding and try again in a couple of years!

Back in the truck and all smiles now! Dresden felt much better once those wierd long things were taken off his feet! 

It's been a CRAZY month (to say the least)! I started off the month with a girls trip to NYC with Kelly and Kamilah (we went to visit Kamilah). We wore ourselves out with all the shopping, etc. in New York City. I got back to Dallas and 3 days later we left for Colorado to stay with Chad's family. It's always fun to see family there and Dresden especially loves playing with his cousins. Back to Dallas and the next day Chad's brothers came out to stay with us for the weekend and on Sunday they left and we also left for Utah! It's been a whirlwind of a month and I haven't even had a chance to think about Christmas! Now in Utah things are finally starting to settle down and we're getting in the Chrismas spirit. There's tons of snow here (as opposed to our 75 degree Dallas weather) and we are having a blast! Chad has been snowboarding every day and is taking Dre up tomorrow for the first time - we'll see how that goes!! I'm just happy to be near family and friends and I'm reminded how truly blessed we are!

Sledding in Utah!

We had so much fun today taking Dresden Sledding for the first time! This was his first experience with the snow so it took him a while to figure it all out. He did not understand why he had to wear so much clothing, but gradually he let us put more and more layers on him as he realized it made him warm! He loved going down the hill with Daddy (and mom too) and he loved playing in the snow too! It's so much fun to be here in Utah this time of year!

A few pics of the book I put together for Kamilah's Wedding Shower (in a box). Kelly and I surprised her with it when we went to visit her in NYC. She was so excited that all her friends sent her messages and she scored big time with gift cards!! Our NYC girls trip was a lot of fun, Kelly has all the pics so I'll post them when I get them. It was fun to see the city at Christmas time - Rockefellar Plaza, shopping, The Macy's window's, and the Rockett's at Radio City were a few of the highlights! 

My Funny Little Guy!

This is how Dresden liked to walk around today! He discovered he had pockets in the back of his pants and thought it was so fun to use these pockets. He looked like a penguin walking around like this - so funny! Tomorrow Chad and I celebrate our 5th Wedding anniversary, yeah! Then on Saturday I leave for a girls trip to NYC! I'll post pictures when I get back!
 

My Husband, the Sports Genius!

Every year Chad enters his company's Football Suicide Pool where every week he picks a football team who he thinks will win(he claims it's all stategic)- if they win he stays in the game, if they lose he's out. You put in money to enter the game and in 5 years we've never gotten anything out of it. So, this year I gave Chad a hard time when he entered by telling him it was a waste of money. His reply was "If I win, we're going to Disneyland". Well, being the sports genius that he is, he totally WON! By chance he won it by picking his favorite team, the Denver Bronco's. We knew he would win if the Bronco's won because the other people left in the game had all chosen losing teams. I have NEVER been so in to a football game - the Bronco's were down the entire game and pulled ahead in the 4th quarter! We were jumping up and down when they won and Chad told Dresden "We're going to Disneyland!"
We talked about other things we could do with the money (pay bills, etc.), but nope - we are Going to Disney World!! We booked our tickets and will be going Feb. 12-16, the picture above is the Disney Animal Kingdom Resort where we will be staying! We are so excited and I can now ease up a little on Chad's obsession with Football!
